Radiation Hazard

Take time to read thru this discussion with Jamie Glazov over at FrontPage magazine. I don’t know the extent of this threat for certain, but I can tell you that it isn’t the first time I’ve come across info like this while crawling on the web.

FrontPage

For the most part it’s all well documented and from credible sources, so is it Illusion or Reality?

Update 03/14/07:

Maybe if we were to actually address some of these issues instead of playing political king of the hill all the time stuff like this wouldn’t be a threat. Hmm…. Ok I get it! We’re going to spend a whopping $6 million on it next year and that’ll solve the problem. Sometimes the numbers just don’t add up folks.

Report Urges Greater US Efforts to Secure Radiological Material A new report by a U.S. government watchdog agency says the U.S. Department of Energy has made only limited progress in securing many of the most dangerous sources of radiological material in the former Soviet Union, leaving them vulnerable to terrorists. The report was the focus of a congressional hearing Tuesday, as VOA’s Deborah Tate reports from Capitol Hill.

The agency is seeking $6 million for the effort next year. But deputy administrator Andrew Bieniawski says the Bush administration is asking for an additional $20 million in a budget supplemental request that will be used to secure another 85 vulnerable radiological sources worldwide.

I say throwing pennies in a wishing well isn’t going to get it done. Sheesh, what’s wrong with these people?

Fly High You Eagles, Soar

February 23rd, 2007 by Exspider

The Poetrooper

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
On you we all depend.
To serve, to stand, support our war,
Our fallen to defend.
Stand firm, stand brave before our Wall;
Deal those a sorry fate,
Who answer Fonda’s hateful call:
Our nation they must hate.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Your keen eyes see below,
The leftist fools oppose this war,
To them no low’s too low.
They seek our Wall to desecrate,
To enhance their losing cause;
They seek to doom our nation’s fate;
They see nothing but our flaws.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Above those who seek defeat,
Who seek submission, nothing more,
To a terror they can’t meet.
They falter when the course is long;
They’re weak-willed, failed and bitter;
Got it all entirely wrong,
So typical of a quitter.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Stand proud before our Wall;
You are the nation’s heart, the core,
The essence of us all.
Know that we stand there with you,
In spirit and in soul,
America’s not lost, not through,
We’ve a long, long way to go.

Fly high you Eagles, soar, from your lofty, special station,
Know this is true forever more; you’ve the blessing of your nation.

GOE Update: From The Gray Dog

February 22nd, 2007 by Exspider

Facing the Wall

When we band together on March 17, 2007, we will turn our back on those that have turned their backs on America.  We will face the Wall.  I have a new project that I hope will also “face” the Wall.  Please read what has been posted at the original GOE forum, and hopefully will be posted in many locations this weekend:

Fellow GOE Participants:

GOE Wall LogoMany of you have seen the Flash Video I literally threw together on a Saturday afternoon almost two weeks ago.  If you have not, please click on http://thegraydog.org/?p=102.  Your response has been both kind and overwhelming.  I now have had an idea for a tribute video that would represent the ‘WHY” we are meeting this March 17, 2007.  For me this could be the largest project I have taken on to date.

What I am asking you for is help.  This is perhaps the last time I will have such an opportunity to be able to communicate directly with such a large group of vets that would be required to pull off this project.  So, here is the idea

I am asking that anyone who would like to participate to please send to me the following:

  • a digital picture of a service member whose name is on the Wall
  • the service member’s name, rank and other info you may care to share.
  • the names of the survivor’s or the relationship of those that are honoring the service member (this could be a fellow service member as well)
  • Really important if you can, a digital picture of the wall that show’s your service members name – or -  a digital picture of your wall tracing of the service member’s name.
  • If you are a fellow service member that does not have a picture of the person you wish to honor, I will include a separate section for just names.

I cannot accept physical paper pictures.  If you do not have a digital version, you can have your photos scanned at any business or office supply store such as Kinkos, Office Max, Office Depot or Staples.  Either .jpg or .gif formats preferred. Please, nothing larger than 800 X 600 pixels.

What I am trying to produce is a tasteful tribute that puts faces on the wall and will serve as a reminder of why we are going to be there on the 17th to defend and protect it.

The actual length and scope of the project will largely depend upon your interest and response.  If possible I will strive to have a product available prior to that weekend.

What will the product be?

  • First, I will have a version that will be viewable on the internet.
  • Second, I will have a version that is downloadable free to those that participated.
  • Third, if there is enough demand, I will create high quality DVD versions that will be available to those that participated at the actual cost of production and shipping. Blank DVD, Jewel Case, Card Insert, etc, plus what ever shipping is involved.  I would also ask that a donation be made to an appropriate Veterans charity.  Anyone else wishing to obtain the DVD will need to make a donation to a Vets charity to be determined.
  • Fourth, depending on demand, there may be a need for multiple Volumes.  This project could continue beyond this initial GOE event.
  • Please include your real name, address and if you feel comfortable a phone number.

MOST OF ALL I PROMISE TO PRODUCE A TASTEFUL AND APPROPRIATE TRIBUTE!

The initial video run time is scheduled to be 10 minutes.  It will contain content on a first come, first serve basis.  If you are interested and wish to participate please send digital pictures and other requested info to:

My Old Buddy Algore…

Nothing but hot air

Let’s face it folks, this guy has jumped the shark. The whacko crowd trying to scare us with nature is a no go and needs smacked down once and for all. He’s just advocating socialism and padding his pockets at the expense of the rest of us.

I burn wood, but bunk might work also Al. Do you deliver?

This video says it all for anybody that can see BS for what it is. I just don’t understand how people can take the man seriously.

This documentary from Britain’s Channel 4 is something you should watch: “The Global Warning Swindle“.

Thomas Sowell has a column at Real Clear Politics that shines some light on this subject also.

GOE Update!

February 21st, 2007 by Exspider

When: 9:30 a.m.
Thursday, February 22, 2007

Where: The National Press Club
First Amendment Lounge
529 14th St., NW, 13th Floor
Washington, D.C. 20045

Who: Larry Bailey, Co-Chairman, Gathering of Eagles
Ted Shpak, National Legislative Director, Rolling Thunder
Jeff Roy, National Junior Vice Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart

Spokesmen for three veterans organizations which are urging their members to rally in Washington, D.C. on March 17, 2007, to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) from antiwar protesters will be holding a press conference at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the National Press Club to announce their plans to protect The Wall and rally for America’s servicemen and women serving in Iraq.

Word has been spreading like wildfire across the country in the veterans’ community about the plans of an anti-American group to hold an antiwar rally on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at, according to their announcement, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens.)

The Gathering of Eagles was formed by Vietnam veterans to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from being desecrated as the Capitol was at an antiwar march last month. While there is no way to accurately gauge attendance, it is expected that thousands of veterans, their families and other patriotic Americans will gather that day to protect The Wall and other war memorials. In addition to Rolling Thunder and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, participants in the Gathering of Eagles rally include Move America Forward, which is organizing a cross-country caravan that will bring Gold and Blue Star parents and veterans to the Gathering of Eagles, and FreeRepublic.com.

If Not Now, When?

The Gray Dog

The Gray Dog gives us some insight into the “Gathering of Eagles” mindset that a lot of old Vet’s seem to have these days with his post  HERE: http://thegraydog.org/?p=103_

______________________________________________

Can a debt ever be repaid to those not here to collect?  Can any act or deed we may do, be enough to mark that debt “Paid in Full?”  The simple answer is no.  The simple truth is that we must never quit trying.  “A Gathering of Eagles” has become a clarion call that rings in my ears and pounds in my chest.  For many, March 17, 2007 will be just one more time they have answered this call, for others this has become the last-best chance to stand with their brothers and sisters and place a down payment on that debt.  That is why I ask the question, “If not now, when?” I began to write this post last Monday.  I have re-written it several times in the past few days. That happens sometimes.  I get hung up on a title I like, and then I can’t write something appropriate to match. The working title has always been “If not now, when?”  It was this morning while browsing through the forum for “A Gathering of Eagles” that I saw this response to a troll by the name of “Patrick Henry.”   Patrick had been goading forum members for several days with the statement “But, I still don’t understand your mission,” or referring to the Vietnam Memorial as a “black wall in a hole.”  There were several well reasoned responses worthy of mention, but the following one stuck with me.  It was written by a vet who professed to me “…writing has never been one of my strong skills…”  My response is, “Your English teacher may have given you a ‘C’ for this response, but your Civics, History and Ethics teachers would have given this an A+.  I did.”

The following is reprinted with full permission from the author, John Cut.  At his request I have modified minor typos.

When I was still young, I believed that I belonged to the best generation ever to grace Planet Earth.  We were the boomers!  We invented the Generation Gap with a form of mass rebellion that, even in our teens, was beginning to reshape America around whatever happened to catch on as our latest whim.  New products were invented as quickly as we made a desire known.  Back then most of us boomers thought all the attention was due to our genius.  Now we know it was only due to our numbers.
Most of us, however, finally settled down, got married, raised families and matured.  The rest went into politics.  And now these still-adolescent, older boomers are running the country, shouting from coast to coast, filling our airwaves and our newspapers with something that more closely resembles verbal diarrhea than any sort of statesmanship.  This country has never witnessed a more massive wave of behavioral incontinence than what we see today in our politics.  Read the rest of this entry »

Gathering of Eagles

Defending America's Memorials

The anti-war crowd is planning to start a march at the Vietnam Memorial Wall on March 17 and desecrate something I hold as sacred. It’s the same old crowd, doing the same old shit. This time around however they’ll be met by a group of distinguished Veterans’ and proud Veteran-American’s that still believe in the sanctity of certain things and willing to do something about it.

Thanks go out to all of my good friends who are making the trip to counter that same bunch of fools we had to deal with in the 60-70’s. I won’t be there, but I’ll stand taller knowing I’m being well represented. It’s time we release the hounds now. Sickem Dogs!

If you are interested in participating or monitoring this event check out the forum here: http://www.gatheringofeagles.org/forum/

The Twisted Sticks

February 8th, 2007 by Exspider

This picture should help you understand why I also use Twisted Stickster as a nic once in awhile. Locating, cutting, and skinning out the twisted tree’s was a hobbie for several years. With well over 200 sticks in the collection now, I’d say I probably deserve that title but have been thinking “woodchuck” would be more appropriate lately.

It’s Alive!

February 5th, 2007 by Exspider

With much prodding and poking I’ve managed to get Illusion Or Reality to show some signs of life at least. Word Press actually relates to my state of mind in a way. When I look around at what’s happening these day’s, I’m hard pressed for words to describe it. I see it but I have a hard time believing it. The Illusion seems to have become the reality for some, but I refuse to be tricked by the man behind the curtain.

Anyhow, I’m way to busy trying to keep my butt warm to worry about global warming and the rest of the insufferable (Al Gore) leftist fools that see nothing but socialism when they look in the mirror every morning. Reality is their delusion and not something that’s going to make the world a better place. They want a nanny state on a global scale and I don’t.

It baffles me as to how so many can be fooled by so few. Moore on this later, right now I’m busy fighting a cooling cycle.  And no, my nanny isn’t feeding the fire. That’s my job.

Beating The Drums

February 5th, 2007 by Exspider

Music has always been one of those “other” interests of mine and I seem to have a good ear for it. I delved into making my own recordings using MIDI with some good high bit modules and other “goodies” and did have some successful ventures. But due to the fact that I can’t sing and my guitar work is so-so I relegate it to being  a hobby kind of deal and just use it to blow off as steam when I can.

 I’ve got the Cannon in D midi sequence and may attempt that at some point if I can get this other “drum beat” out of my head. Johann Pachelbel is still running a close second in this musical clash of the drummers and I’m constantly being distracted by the clamor coming from the MSM and the other “Leftist’s” actively involved in crippling America while beating on their own drums.

This background noise from the wrong side of America (you’re with us or against us) is drowning out the true drumbeat of war and is a distraction that could prove fatal for us as a nation. Rhythm is a good thing if it comes from the heart, but all to often it just ends up as just being apathy to the commom man. You hear the same old shit over and over and it becomes the song of the day. It’s just an illusion that has become reality.

The drumbeat of war is not something that can be heard by most folks but it still resonate ‘s with some of us. I’ve been shit on and hit and shot at and missed, so I do have some credibility here. I just don’t like what I’m hearing in the background.

The US of A is being challenged on many fronts now and I’m sad to say that most have lost sight of the drummer. They can’t hear the war drums beating in the background and don’t have a clue when it comes to actually doing something to protect this thing we call life on a grand scale.

Anyhow, this Vietnam Vet got beat once but he won’t get beat again; I still sing the same song. John Kerry and Ted Kennedy just don’t make very good drummers. I’ve got my own.
