That’s the way my good friend Tom Beasley (artist-musician) always explained it anyhow. He was dead on with that analogy. What you see isn’t always what you get.
Once again Illusion meets with reality.
So why am I still scratching my head?
This is Alex Jones’ latest YouTube presentation. Crap. And I thought listening to NPR on the way to work was tedious. This is a totally different prospective on how the real world works folks . I’m sticking with “Illusion Or Reality” and “the dog ate my homework” for now.
You be the judge. This kind of stuff gives me a headache.

Post-journalism Victor Davis Hanson
We have seen it all the last two years: Weeping journalists on election night; a journalist openly promising to help make Obama successful (”Yeah, it is my job.”); film takes of journalists cheering an Obama speech; the savaging of Sarah Palin and the hands-off treatment of Biden; soft-ball interviews and long puff-pieces on Obama as the young cool crusader;comparisons to JFK’s Camelot, and on and on.
In the 3rd book of his history, Thucydides has some insightful thoughts about destroying institutions in times of zealotry—and then regretting their absence when there is a need for refuge for them. The mainstream press should have learned that lesson, once they blew up their credibility in the past election by morphing into the Team Obama press agency.
There will come a time in the year ahead when either Obama’s unexamined past will come back to haunt him, or his inexperience and tentativeness in foreign affairs will be embarrassingly apparent, or his European-socialist agenda for domestic programs simply won’t work. And as public opinion falls, what will MSNBC, the New York Times, the editors of Newsweek, a Chris Matthews or the anchors at the major networks say?
Not much—since they will have one of two non-choices: (1) either they will begin scrambling to offer supposed disinterested criticism, which will be met with the public’s, “Why should we begin believing you now?” or “Why didn’t you tell this before?”, or (2), They can continue as state-sanctioned megaphones of the Obama administration in the manner that they did during the campaign. They will lose either way and remain without credibility.
In short, we live now in the Age of Post-Journalism. All that was before is now over, as this generation of journalists voluntarily destroyed the hallowed notion of objectivity and they will have no idea quite how to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

Illusion or Reality has taken on a whole new meaning for this Old Dog lately. I sometimes wonder if this isn’t the final episode of the Twilight Zone or something, but then again, I seem to be waking up in the real world every day so that’s out. It has it’s surreal moments to say the least.

The Liberal Left likes to paint those of us that are Conservative in nature as racists and bigots, they are mistaken. Give me the chance to vote for a Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or a Micheal Steele and see what you get for a response.
I like the way machosauceproduction explains his view of politics in the following video:

H/T to LGF for the heads up on this one.

LEBANON, Va. — “That’s not change,” Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of what Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is offering.
“You know, you can put lipstick on a pig,” Obama said, “but it’s still a pig.”

And an empty suit always looks the same Barry, you are no exception to the rule regardless of what your teleprompter is telling you to say.
Heh, I like bacon and this guy has no idea where it comes from in the first place.
That empty suit needs a pressing IMO….

This just in from Russ Vaughn over at Old War Dogs.
Thanks Russ, somebody needed to say it.

I don’t know about you but when I hear Barack Obama stand in front of the a mass of adoring Kool Aid drinkers at the Democratic convention and say, “We’re going to take America back,” hairs stand up on my neck. Take America Back? Just who the hell from?
The verbal construct take back requires a reciprocal action, the necessity that someone else must give up their America. Since I am diametrically opposed to Obama’s extreme socialist views, I assume that one of those someone’s who is going to be required to give back America is me.
Nope, ain’t gonna happen. I’m not in a giving mood, Barry, so you better think long and hard, boy, about what it’s going to require to take it away from me.
I happen to very much like the America in which I live. With all its faults, this country is hands down the best place in the world to live as evidenced by all the folks from other countries busting their asses to get in here. We may export jobs but we sure as hell don’t export people. There’s gotta be a reason for that, Barry. Every speech you make you poormouth the USA but there’s not another country in the world that people are trying so hard to get into.
Sure, we have our periodic downturns economically but they’re always followed by upturns that keep us on track as the economic envy of the world. And, true, we do find ourselves in the position of having to defend our primacy in the world by periodically demonstrating through our military prowess that we’re not gonna take any crap from two-bit, tinhorn despots ranging from Arab pissants to Russian blowhards.
All I hear from you Democrats is how terrible our economy is and yet when I look at my own life which began dirt poor, I am content with the blessings my America has bestowed on me and my loved ones. We are far from well to do, but we are comfortable, warm, sheltered and able to eat and drink what we please. We’re a damned sight better off than your brother in Nairobi. Bet he’d be real happy to move into a spare bedroom in that big ol’ house of yours, don’t you, Barry?
Sure, I see poor people and I feel for them; but you know what that makes me think, Barry? They should be doing the things my wife and I did not to stay poor. Get an education, work hard and don’t blow your money on luxury automobiles and homes you can’t afford to maintain. Live within your means and work hard to increase those means. Save for your future.
But, no, Barack, you want to take back the America in which I am comfortable and give it to those who don’t want to work their way through college as I did, without taking out federally-guaranteed student loans to haunt me for years. You want to take back my America and hand it over to the tattooed, pierced losers who would rather waste their youth on things that make them feel good, and squander the most productive years of their lives seeking that ever illusive sense of fulfillment you Hollywood inspired liberals place so prominently above the sense of responsibility.
I’ll tell you right now and in no uncertain terms, Barack Obama, you want to take back my America? You and your pixie-dusted followers better be a helluva lot tougher than what you’ve shown me so far.

Dangerous demagoguery
Barack Obama says that he wants to “heal” the country while at the same time promoting the idea that all sorts of people are victims for whom he will fight. [snip]

Can we fix it is probably a better question.

Dumb Or Ill-informed
What assumptions do congressmen make about the American people? Do they assume that we’re dumb or ill-informed about the energy problems we are experiencing? Every time there has been a huge spike in gasoline prices, Congress hauls oil company executives before their committees to accuse them of greed, obscene profits and price-fixing. One federal investigation after another of supposed oil company misconduct turns up nothing to substantiate congressional allegations. Unfortunately, the congressional hearings make front page news and lead the evening television news, but the results of federal investigations that follow are only casually mentioned deep in the body of newspapers and get little or no time on the evening television news. If news media people had an ounce of integrity, they would highlight the federal investigation findings that undermine congressional charges of oil company misconduct and they would question the congressmen who made those charges.
Americans might prefer heroes-and-villains explanations to problems to reality-based explanations. A politically satisfying explanation for today’s $4 a gallon price, when it was less than $2 a gallon a couple of years ago, is because oil company executives have all of a sudden become greedy in their pursuit of “obscene” profits. As such, congressmen, as our heroes, should call these greedy men on the carpet and take sanctions against them in the forms of windfall profits tax, price controls and other measures to take away their ill-gotten gains — never mind the effects of the 1980 windfall profits tax. According to the Congressional Research Service, the 1980 windfall profits tax had the effect of decreasing domestic production by 3 percent to 6 percent, thereby increasing American dependence on foreign oil sources by 8 percent to 16 percent.
Controlling the price of anything is very difficult and it can only be accomplished through the force of government, mostly by restricting supply. The U.S. Congress is a major player in oil supply restriction, and OPEC nations must be laughing all the way to the bank. Congress has banned energy exploration in 85 percent of our coastal waters. Ironically, China, in conjunction with Cuba, is drilling for oil nearer to our coastline than U.S. oil companies are permitted.
According to “We don’t have to take $4 gas prices — we can drill,” written by Sterling Burnett in the Houston Chronicle (5/21/08), “It is estimated that beneath America’s coast lies enough oil to fuel 60 million cars in the United States for 60 years and enough natural gas to heat 60 million homes for 160 years. … If allowed access to American oil reserves in Alaska and off our coastline, American oil companies could increase our country’s reserves an estimated fivefold, taking the United States from 11th place to fourth among the countries with proven oil reserves.”
You say, “What about the environmental impact?” Contrary to the hysterical claims made by environmental extremists, caribou and other wildlife have expanded and flourished in and around Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay, unaffected by the oil and gas development. What’s more, Burnett points out that the “two leading environmental groups, the Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy, have allowed oil and gas production on several of their most important and unique nature preserves.”
Environmentalists come to their senses when non-drilling philosophy costs them something. It’s two-faced hypocrisy. At times I’ve suggested that the best way to get oil exploration in the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve is to give the land to environmentalists. You can bet they wouldn’t sit on billions of dollars of oil and gas.
The true villain in our having to cough up $60, $70 or $80 to fill our gas tanks is the U.S. Congress caught in the grip of environmental extremists. But if reality is too difficult to swallow, we can continue to blame and support the congressional attack on oil executives, turn food into oil and think of other crackpot “solutions.”

With a tip of the hat to Scarlett over at Ironic Surrealism for the following quote:
” It is not fear that grips me… only a heightened sense of things.”

Life is a commodity just as is everything we use to sustain it is. It’s a zero sum game at best, and it’s the physics of the matter that you can’t ignore. The end result is always the same: Nothing in, nothing out, and an empty suit helps no one.
Barrack Obama may be for “change”, but that’s just ignoring the problems we’re already facing as a nation. You can’t burn socialism to fuel your economy regardless of what Al Gore and the anthropogenic global warming crowd try to tell you. Hot air still needs heat to get that way, and no amount of CO2 spewing from their mouths will change that equation. They just add to the problem with more of the same. Change should be what people get for their effort in life, and not what the government takes away from you and gives to someone else. Oil will still be greasing the wheels that didn’t come off in the long run, whether we like it or not.
The economic engine will be throttled if the false prophet (read profit) AGW crowd continue to dictate policy for a world looking for real time energy solutions. That’s just doing the same stupid shit and expecting different results. Carbon caps are about the same thing as wearing a tin foil hat and barking at the moon or voting for John Kerry or Obama. You’ll get the same results every time. We’re talking energy in the long run either way you look at it folks.
Expider out/ stacking my carbon credits for a brave new world…….

In a few short months, the young and relatively unknown politician Barack Hussein Obama may very well be elevated to the presidency of the United States and command the mightiest military in world history.
Would the eloquent and charismatic Obama unite, inspire and renew a troubled nation, as tens of millions of voters passionately believe? Or is it possible he’s a Manchurian candidate – harboring an ominous secret agenda few understand, a man destined to wreak havoc on America should he become president?

An Obamanation
It’s unfair the Obamatons howl,
To charge guilt by association;
Our boy has committed no foul;
He’s just one of the congregation.
While sitting there twenty long years,
As the reverend spewed out his odium,
Naught wafted into those large ears,
But spittle and froth from the podium?
No such tirades did I ever see,
Says Obama now that it’s news;
No rants about AIDS heard by me,
Nor venomous bile aimed at Jews.
You cherry pick dribbles and bites
From sermons of many long years;
You say my preacher hates whites?
My goodness that’s news to my ears!
But a man picks a church like a wife,
As a comfortable mate for his soul,
With commonly shared views of life;
They are parts of the man as a whole.
So Obama is welcome to try
To convince us that his soul is pure,
But it’s just a political lie;
He buys into his preacher’s manure.
Why else then sit in that church pew,
With children and wife at your side?
If you truly do not share the world view,
Of your hate-spewing spiritual guide?
Yet now you denounce Jeremiah,
In your quest for power and station;
He’s a conveniently banished pariah;
Barack, you’re an Obamanation.

IN 52 SECS WHY BARACK OBAMA CANNOT WIN A GENERAL ELECTION

H/T to Gray Dog and the rest of the Eagles.

Children of the corn
Since 2001, ethanol production has quadrupled from 1.6 billion gallons in 2000 to an estimated 6.4 billion gallons in 2007, with the vast majority coming from corn. In 2005, the United States became the world’s leading ethanol producer, and last year, the U.S. accounted for nearly half of worldwide ethanol production.
