Where Did You Go Exodus?

April 18th, 2010 by Exspider

Exodus

The man responsible (partially, I’m the other half) for my domain names seems to be hiding again. He used to do that all the time when we told him to clean up his room as a kid. He would just disappear. Some things never change I guess……….. If you see him, tell him to give me call. He was last spotted somewhere in the Pacific ocean on an island.

UPDATE: Nice disguise Exodus, you still got the hat?  Heh, I just spotted you on the counter. You can run but you can’t hide.

Catch ya later………………………..

And The Exodus Continues

Exodus

Exodus returned to Hawaii from Afghanistan recently and then made a sojourn through Italy and Greece before returning stateside for a visit. It was a well deserved vacation on his part and another leg in his long journey home.

I’ll try to get some of his 3000 + pictures uploaded in a later post to bring it all into focus for ya.
Nice job my son, welcome home!

Exodus: The Long Way Home

March 18th, 2009 by Exspider

Long story short. Exodus finished his tour in Afghanistan doing some IT work for the military. He’ll be joining us stateside in May, and then return to Hawaii and fix computers while enjoying the weather there for awhile. And the Exodus continues……

Nice job

Update 03-19-09:

His reflections on the trip through Kuwait and other stops along the way are quite interesting to say the least. Let’s just say civilian contractors aren’t exempt from the red tape involved when dealing with the military.

Update 03-28-09:

The plan is in place: Exodus is taking a well earned vacation to Greece and Italy (OVERKILL) before he stops by for a three week visit in May .

Racism In America

February 22nd, 2009 by Exspider
Basically this post is just to let my cohorts out on the web know that I might be silent at times, but I’m still here. Life is a full time job it would seem and some things are a whole lot more important than this site will ever be. It is what it is, and I treat it accordingly. With that being said, I’d like to thank you all for the continued support and links to IOR.

Our son Exodus will be returning from Afghanistan this spring so stay tuned for the updates on that situation. His birthday is tomorrow so happy B-day to one of the finest IT geeks out there from IOR! Nice job.

Racism is a vague term as far as I’m concerned. You wouldn’t believe how often I utter the words “you dumb ass, why did you do that?”. I realize that I can be a stupid white guy at times, so does that make me a racist? I don’t think it matters what color or ethnicity you have been endowed with. We should be proud of what we are. It’s about dealing with people and real life situations and not about how you look. And one more thing on this topic. I don’t care for Barrack Obama’s policies and it has nothing to do with racism. This is about basic principles and the real life situation we’re facing as a nation today. Like it or not folks, we’re all playing the same game.

Sorry for the rant but some things need said. Check out Zo in the video below for more on this subject.

Exodus:Report From Kabul

January 18th, 2009 by Exspider

The Exodus Continues

My son that we refer to as Exodus in these circles sent me this bit of news.

Five die in Kabul suicide attack

This matters to me because he was there when it happened and the roof caved in.Yikes!

Working on computers for a living has taken a whole new meaning for that man.

At any rate it’ll be good to see him when he returns and we get to have some in depth conversations.

Here’s a picture for you in the mean time Exodus. Some things will never change unless you use them to keep your butt warm.

Afghan president safe after fleeing gunfire at Kabul event

April 27th, 2008 by Exspider

Exodus in Afghanistan

Exodus emailed me right after this turn of events. He was in the immediate area fixing a printer problem when it went down. And no, I’m not talking about the printer. Yikes!

Site News: Exodus in Kuwait

March 23rd, 2008 by Exspider

Exodus called from Ali Al Salem, Kuwait earlier today. He’ll spend a week or so there, and then fly into the Bagrame Air Base before the final road trip or flight into Kabul, Afghanistan.
Heh, now that’s what I call getting around………..

Image

From Hawaii to the dessert in a week is just the seasons passing Exodus. You’ll be in Afghanistan before long and the seasons will have changed once again. At least the weather anyhow. That’s always a good thing, unless of course, Al Gore is involved.

Update March 29! I received an email from my lad this morning. He made it to Afghanistan (Bagrame Air Base) and will be leaving for Kabul shortly. Fixing computers for a living just took on a whole new meaning with that move.

Update April 1! Exodus finally made it to Kabul. He had to take the long way around (3 hours) via C-130 and some stops at some other bases first.

I’ll post a follow-up and pictures as I receive them. He’s been kind of busy lately…….

Update April 4!

Exodus phoned in from Kabul. He’s got his own room in the basement of a safe-house a 1/4 mile from Camp Eggers and is doing just fine. 12 hour days working on computers and nothing to do in your spare time. What a life!

And The Exodus Continues

March 15th, 2008 by Exspider

Exodus is the online moniker that my son uses. It actually fits in a way. We moved from Illinois to Texas when he was just a pup, and into a whole new world. Then the Navy gave him the opportunity to get out and around for a bit and see some of the rest of it. Dessert Storm came along and the USS Russell (DDG 59) and Exodus were about as far from home as one could possibly get.

He was based in Hawaii when he was discharged, decided to stick around, and has worked with computer systems to make a living ever since. He’s one of the smartest people I know, and it’s finally paid off for him. Exodus is now headed for Afghanistan to work on military computer systems, and will gear up this week at Ft. Benning before bouncing off of Kuwait for the final leg of the trip.
God speed my son.

Ironic Surrealism to say the least….. It’s almost as if I’ve been there.

Lt. Murphy Awarded Medal Of Honor

October 13th, 2007 by Exspider

Well deserved and we salute you Lt. Murphy!

divider

Right Truth has a nice roundup here:

Honoring Lt. Michael P. Murphy

Lt. Michael P. Murphy is the first to be awarded the highest military award for combat in Afghanistan, the Medal of Honor. This is the first Navy Seal to receive this honor since Viet Nam. The Right Truth Book Club reviewed “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell with Patrick Robinson, which is the eyewitness account of Operation Redwing and the lost heroes of Seal Team 10 in Afghanistan. While this is a story about heroism, suffering, patriotism, and the kindness of strangers, it is also an indictment of American liberals, specifically the liberal media. Perhaps this is why the MSM failed to report on Michael Murphy and the Medal of Honor this week.

BlackFive was on this one from the get-go:

Someone that everyone, even the NYT should know….
