I received this wonderful book from Lloyd A. King recently. It chronicles what it was like to serve in Vietnam through his poems and the eyes of a man fighting for his life as well as his country. It brought back a lot of memories for this old dog and made me realize that yes, we actually did make a difference, even if it was in a damn war zone.
It’s these kind of people that exemplify my vision of America whether they be civilian or military. I guess you could say we’re all Veteran-Americans in the long run and just leave it at that. Hmmmmm……

Live. Read. Learn.
[snip] Patriots is a novel about a socioeconomic collapse in the near future. It was described by one reviewer as a “survival manual fairly neatly dressed as fiction.” There are so many useful details included that most people find themselves taking notes as they read it.
You can get it here:

A lot of common sense mixed with a real time scenario if we’re not careful. It’s not the matter of the state that counts, it’s the state of the matter in my opinion.

My good friend Gray Dog and Ron Winter both attended the Gathering of Eagles in DC March 14-15 2008. I received my signed copy of Rons book today. Thanks Gray Dog, it’s an excellent read, very hard to put down. Ron does an excellent job of explaining what it takes to be a Marine and how you get there. Thanks go out to both of you!
Update 04/21/08: Well as it turns out, I couldn’t put it down and finished it last night. Vietnam was a whole lot different than it was portrayed by the MSM, as is still the case today. Those of us who fought along side of our Montagnard and Vietnamese friends gave it our all and know the true story. We’ve seen the man behind the curtain…….
